Spanish Club at Waverly High School was a passion of mine. I created a program before leaving the district that involved exploring language and culture in local and global communities. Spanish Club sponsors at WHS strive to engage in authentic learning opportunities at home and abroad. Recent experiences have taken students to South America and Europe as well as local restaurants, museums, schools, and cultural exchange centers.
Spanish Club members engage in many opportunities at school and within the surrounding area. They make and share unique foods, visit local restaurants and museums, travel to cultural fairs, serve diverse populations, and learn from various speakers and guests that share culture-centered information and invitations to explore. Spanish Club members also had the opportunity to travel abroad to engage in service learning, linguistic and cultural immersion, adventure-based expeditions, homestays, and cultural comparison trips. |

In the past, I have taken students on trips to South America, Central America, and Europe as well as on more than 18 immersion experiences in the United States. Students have also engaged in many local activities. The slideshow below shows a sampling of events. |
