Although I have taken students on trips abroad to Europe, South America, Central America, and Asia, I decided to feature a 2015 student trip to Spain because of the amazing artistic works donated by a former student. During a summer 2015 trip, Waverly High School students traveled to Spain to not only practice their Spanish, but also engage in authentic learning. While traveling throughout Spain, they visited many historical sites with profound cultural, political, and religious implications. Many of these sites boasted world-famous art and architecture. Students also hiked and explored metropolitan areas and small towns. Along the way, they spoke in Spanish, received some formal tours in Spanish, and tried a variety of traditional cuisine. Please enjoy the visual summary below of some of the incredible landscapes and items they encountered. Featured images below were taken by talented student photographer Greg Wetzel who generously shared his work with all (August, 2016).
